Another Article Mentioning PLP in Relation to Alkaline Phosphatase
The authors of this article [Chiang et al., 2003: (http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/133/4/1056) (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12672918?dopt=Abstract)] also found that serum PLP levels were inversely correlated with serum ALP levels and activity. The authors said the same thing that the authors of that other article said, that an elevation in ALP activity will tend to reduce extracellular PLP levels and increase intracellular PLP levels (by cleaving extracellular PLP into pyridoxal and thereby allowing pyridoxal to enter cells and be phosphorylated, by pyridoxal kinase, into PLP).
